From “NARP” to Athelete.
Back in college and high school, I was overweight. I was a “NARP,” a non-athletic-regular-person. At my peak, I weighed 250 pounds. I didn’t realize how unhealthy my lifestyle was at the time, but I always felt tired, sluggish and low on self-esteem. Little did I know that these negative feelings were all connected to my weight.
Like most people, I had no idea what I was doing when I first tried to lose weight. I looked in magazines, tried meal replacement shakes and even meal prepped with frozen dinners.
My weight seemed to yo-yo every month. The truth is that I had no idea what to do with my nutrition and my workout philosophy was based on myths. I was definitely discouraged and understand why people get frustrated when trying to lose weight.

My PRs (personal records) are currently:
Why TheRunnerBuddie?
Why follow my blog when there are so many other resources out there?
As someone who was once 70 pounds overweight but has now gotten to the point where he can win local 5Ks and 10Ks, I think I have a unique perspective.
This site is dedicated to helping other people learn the skills of running, share personal experiences and promote the sport of running.
I started TheRunnerBuddie mainly because I want to share what I’ve learned about running with others and because I want to connect with other runners who are passionate about fitness.
The tips written in this blog aren’t the generic tips you’ll find on other websites. These are techniques, principles and ideas that I have personally used to transform myself from a “NARP” to an athlete.
